The Green Party had one seat, and there were two independent councillors. The Conservatives went into the election holding 37 seats, with the Labour Party forming the opposition with 12 councillors. ![]() ![]() The council has been held by the Conservatives for the past 16 years, but briefly had a Labour majority in the late '90s, followed by eight years when no party had overall control.Ĭandidates stood in 24 wards, four less than previously due to boundary changes made by the Government, but the total number of councillors remains at 52. The results are in, and the people of Charnwood have decided who will represent them for the next four years. ![]()
